Groups

In order to build a more relevant search query, you can Group search criteria together, just like in a Boolean search.

Group by AND logic

By default, Search groups any criteria added together with AND (for example, below is searching for a Candidate with a 'Desktop Support Manager' tag AND with a Birmingham Location).

Group by OR logic

For a more flexible result, you can group using OR; the below searches for Candidates with the Job Title of Computer Systems Manager OR IT Manager. This way, you can search for Candidates who may have slightly different Job Titles but still relevant to the Vacancy you are recruiting for.

Change group type

By clicking into the group, you can change the group type to AND, OR or NOT.

Nested Groups

For even more flexibility, you can nest groups within groups. To do this, you can click the 'New group' button that's in the group and it will automatically nest. You can drag and drop search terms into the group of your choosing. The below query is searching for Candidates within 30 miles of Birmingham AND someone who either has a Manager Job Title OR is tagged with Senior Support Specialist.

By nesting groups, you can really control the scope of your results and ensure that even the most specialised of vacancies have the most suitable Candidates.

Selecting your criteria

There are two ways to select criteria. Both have their advantages, depending on your search query.

The grid icon on the left-hand side can be used to select multiple criteria at one time.

Shortlists: this does not necessarily aid you building a new search query. However, what is does do is give you access to both inactive and active shortlists. The shortlist will list all of the candidates considered for a vacancy, or all applicants against a vacancy, or there is the option to review both.

This is such a good tool, as it helps you build an instant shortlist for your new vacancy! Simply search by job title, for example Trainer, and it will list all the shortlists that have the same title. Select one, hit the search button and see a list of all of the candidates. The search can be used as normal to reduce the list by skills, location, etc. Review the candidates and then shortlist all the suitable ones to your vacancy. To find a specific shortlist, search by the vacancy reference number. Don't forget, you can using grouping to look through multiple shortlists at the same time!
